Prior to the American Revolutionary War, Prince Hall and fourteen other free black men petitioned for admittance to the white Boston St. John's Lodge. They were declined. The Masonic fraternity was attractive to some free blacks like Prince Hall because freemasonry was founded upon ideals of liberty, equality and peace . Prince Hall is recognized as the Father of Black Masonry in the United States. Historically, he made it possible for Negroes to be recognized and enjoy all privileges of free and accepted masonry.
To become a Prince Hall Freemason a person needs to:
* Be a Law-abiding person.
* Have a belief in a Supreme Being; and
*Have made his decision to join Freemasonry by his own free will and not for any
personal gain or reasons of idle curiosity.
The mission of the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge, Free and Accepted Masons of Texas is to continue the legacy of making good men better through fraternal brotherhood, to aid and assist our widows, orphans, and distressed brothers, and to contribute to the community through service, scholarship, charity and training. an answer to this item.
